Green Trends in the Technology World

Green is no longer just about recycling, reusable bags, and riding your bike.  At the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the tech and electronic world proved they won’t be left behind.  But let me tell you – these aren’t your momma’s green products.

Fridges that take note of how often and when you most open them, and adjust temperatures accordingly to conserve energy, “smart” plugs to help prevent energy-sucking electronics from driving up your bill, and e-cycling – the reusing of used electronics to help make new ones.

This is definitely a step in the right direction.  Energy-saving is huge, especially during a time when we could all use the extra dough.  And e-cycling is great because once electronics die, or we get new ones, they don’t exactly compost.  They pretty much just sit around so our grandchildren’s grandchildren will have to worry about them.  However, in light of the fact that we are slowly recovering from a recession, will companies be able to make their new green products affordable enough for people to be able to justify the cost?

At any rate, this is definitely a step in the right direction, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
